M&A Done to a Standard; How to Get Started

Sovereign M&A Coaching

There are tons of books on M&A out there. Some of them are worthwhile reads. Others I wish I could get my time back. Don’t get me started on podcasts. Similarly, there are a seemingly unlimited number of M&A firms in the market these days (both brokers and investment bankers). If you’re a business owner who is considering selling your business, I’m willing to bet the following questions have crossed your mind:

  • Where do I get started?
  • I’ve been receiving calls/emails from buyers and advisors, should I call them back?
  • Which bankers/brokers will drive up the value of my business?
  • Who is a good referral source?
    • My friend recently sold his business and recommended his broker, but how do I know my friend knows what he’s talking about? Should I trust online reviews for something this impactful to my future?

If you’ve ever asked yourself any of those questions, I want to help. My name is Graham Gilbert. I am currently Head of Corporate Development for a large scale, private equity backed facility services provider. Prior to that, I spent twelve years in the M&A world across investment banking, private equity, and leveraged lending. Candidly, given the demands of the business and family, I don’t have time to run your sellside process for you. However, I can help you better understand the M&A landscape, find the best team of advisors for your situation, and prevent you from making the same mistakes I’ve seen over-and-over again – mistakes that cost sellers months of time and serious money.

I can help you identify the best team of advisors for you and can help negotiate terms on your behalf, knowing exactly where the traps are. Knowing what good service looks like, I can also make sure you are getting the A-team’s best efforts every day. M&A Done to a Standard is our slogan and we mean it.

Over the next several months, I will be posting long-form articles and short-form articles (which I’ll call M&A Quick Hitters) to my LinkedIn and my website (www.G2CapAdvisors.com). My goal is that these articles will shed some light on otherwise confusing topics. In the meantime, I am more than happy to help you on an individual basis.

Sincerely,

Graham Gilbert 813-668-7855
